Quartyard
Created across the corrugated steel surface of a shipping container, this site-specific black-and-white art installation transforms an industrial structure into a subtle work of contemporary art. The piece began with a gestural background created by filling fire extinguishers with paint and using them as an unconventional painting tool, producing an expressive, textured layer across the steel.
A softer, more delicate image was then drawn over the surface using line enamel, creating an intricate contrast against the bold marks beneath it. The resulting composition acts as a quiet visual backdrop within the courtyard, integrating the artwork into its surroundings without overpowering the existing architecture or atmosphere.
Blending experimental painting techniques, industrial materials, and site-specific design, the installation demonstrates how contemporary public art can transform an everyday structure into an engaging part of its environment.
